It’s not often that I take time to write a post, but thought I was overdue to let my readers and ACF users know what’s up.
For over 2 years now, I have been working on the Advanced Custom Fields plugin every day as my full time job. I love working on this super useful plugin, and enjoy tackling the problems of managing a worldwide used software on such a small scale.
I must admit, for the past year, the free version of ACF (version 4) has not received many. Don’t think I haven’t been working on developing this plugin, my attention has been focused on ACF version 5. Currently this version is part of ACF PRO but in the future, it too will be released as a free version (without the premium fields / functionality).
If not already, please start using ACF PRO. It’s light-years ahead of the free version in both functionality and UI design. http://www.advancedcustomfields.com/pro/
Sometime in the future, I plan to release the version 5 update onto the wordpress.org repo. Before this, I will most likely release the update onto github, and will most likely release updates for the 4 add-ons to have compatibility with the version 5 plugin. None of this is set in stone, but this is the current plan.
That’s about it for now, just wanted to let you know what’s up.
