In the past 2 tutorials we have looked at the importance of keywords and how to use senSEO to find the SEO pitfalls in your wordpress website. Today we will look at the final component to a solid SEO driven wordpress website: Headspace2. Head space2 is a free wordpress plugin and can be downloaded here.
Page Settings
Okay, so if you have not already, install headspace 2 onto your wordpress website and click on Settings > Headspace to look at the options available. You will first see your Page Settings. These are the settings that are available for different types of pages (Home page, blog page, single blog post, single page, archive, etc). If you are familiar with creating a wordpress theme then you will notice that these are the same as the .php files you make.
First we need to assign page settings for all pages. This is like a default page setting and is found by clicking on Global Settings. Here you can write a title, description and tags(keywords) for all pages. Have a think about keyword density here and write something that captures a broad array of terms and also include your name and also add “%%title%%” at the end. This will add the page title in your page’s title meta tag! so for example, mine looks something like this:
Melbourne Freelance Web + Graphic Designer/Coder | Elliot Condon %%title%%
You also need to play around with senSEO and make sure your lengths are under the limit. You can now go through the list of different pages and add in different titles/descriptions/tags if you want.
Page Modules
Theres some options here to play around with modules that appear on your page. You should see a green, blue and grey box. These boxes show what status the module is:basic, advanced or disabled. There’s only one option we want to touch: Keywords. If your keywords module is currently sitting in disabled, simply drag and drop it up into the basic green box. Click on it and make sure the option “use tags” is turned on. This tells head space to use your post and page tags as keywords. This is great because we dont have to copy and paste or duplicate our keywords. Also it forces us to make sure our keywords are relevant to the post/page. Google loves relevant keywords and hates irrelevant keywords , you cant fool him so this keeps him happy!
Site Modules
The Site modules provide easy ways to link in 3rd party applications like google analytics. Anyone who is serious about rising their google rank needs google analytics. You can read more about it here at the google analytics website. So if you do have an account, find your account number (it should look something like this: UA-XXXXXXX-X) and add it in the google analytics box and remember to select the new google analytics option if you are using the new style tracking code.
The end
Thats it guys. I hope you enjoyed the 3 part tutorial on how to rise your google rank with the help of keywords, senSEO and Headspace2. Good luck with your Search Engine Optimization future.

In my opinion optimizing permalinks is the first step after finishing installing blog. If the title of your post (blog entry) is too long, you might have a problem. There are special situations when the search engines will penalize a blog entry for such a practice and send it to the supplemental results. To avoid this situation you could write a different post slug when you write your entry.
